Learning Log 5 ♥

1. Which topic do you find most significant? Why? ❤

- I find scaffolding as a significant topic because in education, scaffolding is what you do first with kids, then for those students who are still struggling, you may need to differentiate by modifying an assignment perhaps giving them an activities and accommodations for students in their learning like giving them an accessible project and etc. In order to meet students where they are and appropriately scaffold a lesson, or differentiate instruction, you have to know the individual and collective zone of proximal development or the ZPD of your learners. So it is also better to use any kinds of scaffolding strategies or techniques that can be also helpful to students when it comes to their learning.

      2. Which topic do you find most difficult to understand? Why? ❤

- The topic that I find the most difficult to understand is about the WebQuest because it contains six parts (a) the introduction-background information about a theme that students will investigate, (b) the achievable and feasible task-a common explanation of what learners are expected to do, (c) information sources provided by the teacher- generally links and websites for students to explore to accomplish the instructional duty, (d) a description of the process- a detailed procedure for learners to follow step by step process in fulfilling the task, (e) evaluation- conditions and rules for evaluating the learners' work , and (f) the conclusion-a a brief description of the project. (Dodge, 1997) which is difficult for me to extrapolate and WebQuest also requires a skillful person in technology that is why it is difficult for me to understand because to be honest I am not a fan of using technologies like the computer.  In my own opinion, I disagree about the learning of the student using the technology because there are so many student who are not exposed yet in technologies and not all parents can provide computers or money to spend time in computer shop just to learn especially those students who are in the hinterlands then for example in the future if we are assigned in the school without a current, how can I teach the students using the technologies if there is no electricity? Well, it is just my own opinion. 😊

      3. How do you find the use of our website (gg.gg)? Is it useful or not? Suggest ways to improve it.  ❤

- The website (gg.gg) is very useful because it can help us to review our lesson using the internet. All the powerpoint and other learning product are all-in in the internet and we can easily downloaded it. I am very amazed of this website (gg.gg) because it is my first time to use this kind of learning material and It helps me a lot because I am able to access even though I am not in our computer laboratory and also it give us a good measure of information about our lesson. I wish the website (gg.gg) can be accessible even if there is no an internet connection because it is for the goods of those students who find difficulties of having internet connections.  

       4. The new paradigm of education is done by creating engaging and inspiring learning experiences. Was the semester inspiring and engaging to you as a student of ED 126? Why? ❤

- The semester for me was very inspiring because of the knowledge I gathered from this ED 126 subject. In our class, it's not just about a normal class that I experienced but both Ed 126 lecture and laboratory class gives us an activity and sharing in the class that leads me to be always present in the class. Thank you Sir Sam and Sir J for the knowledge you've shared to us! 😍 

        


        5. Suggest ways on how to improve the teaching and learning process in educational technology subject (ED 126)? ❤

- To improve the teaching and learning process, I suggest that it is much better to promote more student engagement because when students are engaged in every classroom activity, I believed that student learn more a lot and also as what I have mentioned above, it is also better to access websites without an internet connection. My last suggestion is to make a test on what you teach and teach what you intend to test.

A. Why do we need to develop self-directed learners?

-We need to develop self-directed learners because the individual takes the initiative and the responsibility for what occurs. Individuals select, manage, and assess their own learning activities, which can be pursued at any time, in any place, through any means, at any age. In schools, teachers can work toward SDL a stage at a time. Teaching emphasizes SDL skills, processes, and systems rather than content coverage and tests. For the individual, SDL involves initiating personal challenge activities and developing the personal qualities to pursue them successfully. 

B. As future teachers, how will you help your students become self-directed learners?

-Education is about more than setting up a fish (knowledge) distribution center and handing fish out to all who come to the institution. Education is about fishing lessons, equipping people with the competence and confidence to fish (learn) for the rest of their lives. This is not simply about job preparation. This is preparation for life: family, church, community, work, avocations, leisure time, and relationships. That is the liberal arts vision behind education. As such, an education that simply disseminates knowledge is a limited one.

This are some process:

• Being ready to learn
• Setting learning goals
• Engaging in the learning process
• Evaluating learning

This are some tips:

• analyse new conditions as they arise
• identify the new knowledge and skills that they will be required to deal with these conditions,
• independently chart a course that responds to these changes, and
• think about their own cognitive processes: their thinking, reasoning, problem solving    and learning. Self-managing learners are metacognitive. 

C. What student-support materials will you provide your students to help them become self-directed?

- The online tools because in this kind of SSM the students can benefits to Increase collaboration, Innovate assessment, Enable learning about information and research, Transform time-frames around learning and ownership of learning.

Which tools do you find useful or appropriate for your subject area? 
I choose the Google Apps for Education Tools because it helps the students a lot to do their works from school. All the applications for education furnish by google are very functional especially when it comes to studies. This application has a guidelines which help the students choose what application they are going to use.

All applications are very useful because in my subject area which is the Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health have many multiplicity of scheme that need to be use in teaching perhaps in learning. So this apps serve as my guide and help me and my squad.

How will you incorporate these tools in your unit plan?
I can incorporate these tools in my unit plan in creating activities, lessons, planning and discussions for my students. Because of this application, it will permit me to expose my students in a distinctive application of our lesson. There will be a cooperation and dealings in the perspective of others which helps me to accommodate my unit planning.


How will you use these tools in you future teaching profession?
I believe that this application is a consort that able to teach the students efficiently. It also helps to see what others perspective in the subject that I am teaching. It would easily hitch the attention of each students because the class will not be drudging if there will be so many ways in tutelage the subject.

A. What are the ISTE standards that you possess? Please cite specific personal experiences wherein you portray such standards?

- I as a digital citizen because as we all know people nowadays are exposed in high technologies. It also refers to a person who utilized an information technology in order for them to manifest their learning using the internet. Many students also used an internet to provide their needs in their studies. In my experienced, I habituate to used high technologies in my assignments, research, projects, reports and the technology that I used is the computer, tablet, smart phones and etc. because it helps me to recollect knowledge but there is a limitation in using internet because not all the answers, the thought or ideas published in the internet is certifiable.   

B. As a future teacher, in what ways can you develop these standards among your students?

- As a future teacher, developing this standard is not that easy because it takes a lot of time and effort to develop and to improve the learning of each students with different characteristics like the attitudes, interest, culture and beliefs. As a future teacher, I will handle my students gingerly and alert. I will be open-minded and I will let them used the technology in related to our lesson and those students who are not yet exposed in technology, I will give them the opportunity to explore the internet and I will teach him/her how to use a technology. I will also use the technology in teaching some lesson in the class. Teaching is not solely about filling your listeners’ minds with information; it's also about helping them apply it to their lives.

A. What are the 21st century skills that you need to develop? How are you going to develop these skills?

 -Life and Career skills

      Among all the 21st century skills, I choose this one because I know that this is my impaired ability. In life and in career skills, I will develop this by focusing and self-control, perspective taking, communicating and taking on challenges in self-directed engaged learning.

B. As a future teacher, how will you develop the 21st century skills among your students?         

-Preparing a child for the world that doesn’t yet exist is not an easy task for any teacher but as a future teacher, I will let my students realize that every steps of learning is very important in their life and in their future. There are so many skills that they need to think, analyze and develop too. Teacher and student relationship is important because it helps them in their studies. In every lesson that teachers may teach should have a SHARING session  for them to know that if students understands their lesson clearly and also if the teachers is wrong, students can also share his or her statements.
